Altenew May 2020 Stamps/Dies/Stencils Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello, and welcome to Altenew May 2020 Blog Hop!! Today we are showcasing brand new stamps, dies, and stencils. If you arrived here from Altenew Mixed Media blog, then you are on the right track. If this is your first stop, then you will want to start at the beginning, the Altenew Card Blog.

Take a look at my flower pressed cards:

pressed flower cards

I used real flowers that I pressed two weeks ago and paired them with Altenew’s brand new Inked Lotus Stamp Set to create these beautiful cards.

Creating these cards was so much fun. I’ve never used real flowers before to make anything, so it was exciting. I used my Pressed Flower kit from The Crafter’s Box. I’ve been a member for the past 4 years, and I absolutely love all of the new things I learn from their workshops.

Here’s how I created these cards:

First, I bought some flowers I wanted to press from a local nursery.

Then, I took my time and add the flowers to the press and pressed them. That was two weeks ago.

Once the two weeks passed, take the press apart and carefully removed the flowers from the press.

I decided which flowers I wanted to add to the front of my cards.

Once that decision is made, add a small amount of Mod Podge with a small paintbrush to the back of flowers and adhered them to the front of the cards.

To finish the cards, use Altenew Permanent Black Ink to stamp the different sentiments on the front of the cards.

Done!!

Let’s take a look at each card:

I have to admit, creating these cards was so therapeutic. The flowers are so delicate you have to take your time and focus on what you’re doing.

What do you think? Will you make your own pressed flower cards? Please let me know.

What is a blog hop without an amazing gift? Yayyy!!!

  1. I can always count on you to take your stamps in new and unexpected directions. I love seeing real flowers on a card instead of just colored ones! (As for whether I’ll do it myself, I’m not great with plants, especially because the deer outside and my cats inside keep trying to eat them. I’d probably just end up with pressed cat hair. :/ Not nearly as pretty an idea as yours.)

  2. Wow. I as blown away by your pressed flower cards. They are each a masterpiece I just love them. What a great idea. Thank you.

  3. Your pressed flower cards are gorgeous — such a unique idea. I love the wonderful sentiments from the Inked Lotus set.

  4. How lovely! I have a flower press that I have not used in years. My parents used to own a farm and the first thing we grew every spring was petunias – I rather disliked petunias for a long time because of all the thousands of petunias I used to have to transplant, water, trim, and haul about. But I love how delicate they look as dried flowers – enough that I may consider getting some for my own garden so I can try pressing them later! thanks for sharing.

  5. I just love your pressed flower cards. Such a great idea! I used to press flowers when I was little, I may have to think about re-visiting that. Thanks so much for sharing. You’ve inspired me!

  6. I’ve never seen real flowers used on cards before, I recall doing this in my youth. Thanks for sharing this technique to create your lovely cards, so creative.

  7. Oh my goodness!!! I’ve been wondering how to incorporate my pressed leaves/flowers into my cards for forever! I’m soooooo excited that it’s combined with another crafting material I have come to really admire…Altenew! Thanks so much for the inspiration Kymona 🙂

  8. I haven’t seen anyone press flowers in years. Love the look and the pressed flowers look great with those sentiments. Thanks for sharing!

  9. Kymona.. I love the technique and the natural lines that appear after the flower press on the paper is so amazing.. i loved it, definitely going to try this out

  10. Oh how fun and pretty!! I have a flower press and I used to press flowers from my garden too. Thanks for reminding me to take it out and use it again.

  11. Oh my lord. Those are so amazing. I never would have thought you could attach real flowers in that way. The are so striking.
