Hello and Happy July, everyone! 2020 has changed our lives in so many different ways. We can talk about all of the things we miss or haven’t been able to do, but I want to talk about what I’ve learned and loves about this stay at home time.

First, I saved so much money by not going anywhere or buy anything besides groceries. Second, I’ve been able to spend more time with my children. I realize how much I miss when we are off to school and work on a typical day. The third is more time to finish and start new crafts, LOL!!

Yes, I’ve been able to finish older projects and start new ones like my project that I want to share with you today.

Let’s take about this fabric collection:

Gem Stones Basics, by PSD2, is a stunning collection of fabrics featuring an ombre confetti design that runs selvage to selvage.

This collection contains 17 different prints.

Let’s dive into how to create this lap quilt:

Cutting fabric:

Cut 10 strips of different colors to 5 inches x the width of the fabric.

Sewing Strips:

Line the strips up in the order you want to see them as a quilt.

Place the first two right-sides together and sew a 1/4 inch down the length of the fabric.

Repeat this process until all of your strips are sewn together.

Once that is done, its time to cut the batting and backing.

Lay the quilt top on top of the batting and backing. Make sure the batting is bigger then the quilt top and the backing is more significant than the batting.
