Altenew Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone!!  I’m so excited to be here today.  This is my first Altenew Blog Hop as a design team member!!  Today we are showcasing all of the new stencils that are being released.  If you’ve arrived here from fabulous Lydia Evans, then you are on the right track. If you arrived here on your own, then you will want to start at the beginning, the Altenew Card Blog so that you don’t miss a thing!

Take a look at my layout:

For my layout I used Altenew Layered Kaleidoscope B Stencil  paired with some of the supplies from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection Kit and some Ink Sprays to add interest to my page.

Altenew scrapbook layout

I used the Layered Kaleidoscope B stencil to add texture behind my photo using embossing paste. I took my time to only get the embossing past in the center design of the stencil only.

Note: for those of you who are new to this technique, I would suggest you mask of the areas that you do not want the past to go as to not make a mistake.

applying embossing paste

I did this twice so that the design would peak out from behind the photo.

Note: you could color the embossing paste using Altenew’s inks and/or sprays to really enhance the texture.  Like this:

I choose not to use it the color paste because it was to much yellow on the page but know that this is an option as well.

Let’s take a closer look:

layered scrapbook page using Altenew Reflection Scrapbook kit

For this page, I matted the photo on top of a piece of pattern paper from the Reflection Scrapbook Kit. Then I used the stickers and other embellishments from the kit to add the title and cute saying to the layout.  To finish the layout off, I used Altenew Ink Spray and a paintbrush to add ink splatters throughout the page.

So what do you think?  Will you use stencils on your layouts now?  I would love to hear what you think below!

What is a blog hop without an amazing gift? Yayyy!!

  1. wow! love your scrapbook page and the way you used the sprays with the acrylic medium. Great ideas! Thank you for sharing your creativity!

  2. It’s a beautiful layout and the texture paste really works for the background. Too bad I am not a scrapper! Thank you for the idea–I might give it another try for a card, though. I have only tried a few times and wasn’t too excited about my results. (sigh.. just another skill to master!)

  3. Lovely layout!! Thanks for the inspiration, you remind me that using part of the stencil yield great result as well. 🙂

  4. I would definitely use stencils on my scrapbook pages. Thank you for the inspiration, and congratulations on your first post for Altenew. Job well done.

  5. Your layout is lovely! And I like that you kept the texture
paste uncolored (tho I love to color it as well); it looks more
of a natural BG to the photo. And I love the splatter! I am
always afraid to try that … lol

  6. I had no idea that stencils could be *this* beautiful and then, with your creativity elevated to stunning! Thrilled that Altenew is recognizing your talents; your layout is amazing!

  7. Your layout is fantastic, I love the design and the embossed stencil part looks amazing! I really like the ink splatters as well.

  8. Terrific look using the texture behind the photo. Another way to use a “simple” stencil. Who knew? Thanks for the idea.

  9. So beautiful! Really love the addition of the texture paste, and how clever to use only parts of the stencil design! This is such a great summer layout, but I could totally see this works as snowflakes too :))) Thanks for the inspiration! ^^

  10. Hi Kymona ~ Congratulations on joining the Altenew crew!! I couldn’t be more excited for such a well-deserving, creative lady!! I haven’t scrapped in a LONG time but have been looking at all my photos and 12 x 12 paper and thinking I should get moving! I do believe this is just the push I need. Your page is so creative with your use of the stencil and embossing paste. I’m beyond excited with this release of so many wonderful stencils and stamp sets. Thanks for continuing to inspire me! ~HUGS~
