Altenew Metallic Watercolor 14 Pan Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello, and welcome to Altenew’s Metallic Watercolor Release Blog Hop!! Today we are showcasing a brand new set of metallic watercolors. If you arrived here from the talented blog, Emily Midgett, then you are on the right track. If this is your first stop, then you will want to start at the beginning, the Altenew Card Blog.

Take a look at my watercolor postcard:

I love creating loose watercolor images. It allows me to play with the paint without any worries of perfection. The new Metallic Watercolor set is amazing. The colors are amazing and pretty.

Postcards are fun to send to people that you have spoken to in a while or when you’re on vacation. I created this “just because” postcard because a friend of mine is not well and I want to send her a quick message.

How to create this watercolor wash:

First, I wet the back of the postcard.

Second added the teal color to the water. The color moved all on is own.

Then add a little bit of gold.

Let the watercolor wash dry.

Splatter gold over the watercolor wash. Let it dry.

Use the Just Because stamp set to add the sentiment on top of the wash.

On the back of the postcard, add a light watercolor wash using the same color.

Now its time to send this postcard out to my friend.

What do you think? I would love to hear from you.

What is a blog hop without an amazing gift? Yayyy!!!

Altenew | Refresh Your Watercolor Brush Markers Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello and welcome to Altenew’s July 2019 Stencil Release Blog Hop!! Today we are showcasing brand new Watercolor Brush Marker Refills. If you arrived here from the talented blog, Janette Kausen, then you are on the right track. If this is your first stop, then you will want to start at the beginning, the Altenew Card Blog.

Take a look at my watercolor embroidery canvas:

I love it when experiments go the right way, LOL! When the Tropical Fiesta Watercolor Brush Marker Refills showed up at my door, I wasn’t sure what to do with them. I tossed many ideas around and thought they weren’t out of the box enough. That’s when a light bulb went off, and I thought would they look good on fabric.

So, I tried, and I was excited when it went right!

Here’s how I created this colorful watercolor embroidery canvas:

Place a piece of linen-cotton canvas fabric on a glass mat.

Use a glass mat just in case the water or the ink didn’t absorb in the fabric. It would be easy to clean up.

Once the water on the fabric, start adding ink to the material.

Add as much color or different color as you desire. I used four different colors: Frest Lemon, Sunkissed, Turquoise, and Crimson.

Let the color take their time and move before you pick up the fabric.

Once you have the desired look, pick up the piece of fabric carefully; remember the mat is glass, so the liquid is sitting right on top of that glass.

Clean off the residue and place the piece of fabric back on the glass mat. Hoop it so it can dry. I used a heat tool because I was impatient.

Once the fabric dries, cut away the excess material, and now you’re ready to add a sentiment.

Before that could happen, I realized that I loved the backside of the fabric because it was a bit more subdued. So I changed it.

Now its time to add the sentiment.

Die-cut the word blessed from the Mega Blessed Die Set and adhere it to the front of the fabric.

Beautiful, easy, and fun to create. It’s a fantastic wall hanging home decor piece.

Let’s take another look:

Altenew November 2018 Stencil/Ink Spray Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone and welcome to Altenew’s November 2018 Release Blog Hop!! Today we are showcasing all of the new stencil and ink sprays.  If you arrived here from the talented Laurie Willison blog, then you are on the right track. If you arrived here on your own, then you will want to start at the beginning, the Altenew Card Blog so that you don’t miss a thing!

Take a look at my scrapbook page:

Flowing Hearts Stencil

To create this page I used the new Flowing Hearts Stencil, the new Orange Cream Metallic Shimmer Ink Spray and the Cosmic Berry Metallic Shimmer Ink Spray.  They are a perfect fit with this photo.

Here’s how I created this scrapbook page:

Spray the two ink colors onto the large watercolor palette. Spray water and place the white cardstock on top of the palette.

Let dry.

Once the paper dries, use black ink and stencil the hearts in place.

Flowing Hearts Stencil

Cut away at a portion of the heart so that the photo can fit right up underneath it.

To add texture, add black thread under the photo and adhere it in place.

Flowing Hearts Stencil

Die cut the title using the Fine Alphabet Die Set and adhere the letters down.

Use Photoshop to type the journaling in colors that match the pages background.

Flowing Hearts Stencil

Add the wood veneer pieces to add another type of texture to the page.

Nice and easy.

Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone and welcome to Altenew’s Watercolor Brush Markers Release Blog Hop!! Today we are showcasing the brand new Watercolor Brush Markers.  If you arrived here from the talented Norine Borys then you are on the right track. If you arrived here on your own, then you will want to start at the beginning, the Altenew Card Blog so that you don’t miss a thing!

Take a look at my watercolor scrapbook layout:

Watercolor Markers

I love the electric effect the watercolor created on this page. Super vibrant and fun. So was this trip to Universal Studios with my sister, daughter and nieces!

Here’s how this layout was created:

Gather Altenew Watercolor Markers and Altenew Large Watercolor Palette to get started.

Watercolor Markers

Before you can use the markers you have to remove the green ring that prevents the ink from reaching the brush before the are ready to be used.

Watercolor Markers

Squeeze the barrel to release the ink onto the palette.

Watercolor Markers

Use as many colors as you want.

Watercolor Markers

Spritz the palette with water so that the ink can move around when you apply it to paper.

Watercolor Markers

Turn the palette onto the paper and watch the ink move across the paper. Its amazing. I love this palette for this very reason. You can see how the ink moves and make adjustment if you want.

Watercolor Markers

Once you lift the palette, you will see some ink left on the palette that you can place somewhere else on the paper.

Watercolor Markers

Once the watercolor look is to your desire, let it dry. Since I wanted it to dry quickly, I used my heat tool to dry it.

Watercolor Markers

Now it time to add the photo and embellishments. Start with the title. I used the Reflection Scrapbook Puffy Stickers for this title.

Watercolor Markers

Type up the journaling and adhere it next to the photo. Use the Date Stamp to add the date multiple times. Splatter some black ink drops for contrast on the page.

Watercolor Markers

Add some thread and Reflection Scrapbook Collection Stickers under the photo.

Watercolor Markers

Pretty cool right?!

  • 36 Artist Grade Watercolor Half-Pans

  • Plastic Case

  • Water Brush

Take a look at my Watercolor Traveler’s Notebook:

Altenew Watercolor Pan

I recently took a vacation with my daughter to Cuba and it was amazing. The country is a must see. Although the infrastructure is on the decline, you can still see the beauty in the country. We had a blast and learned a lot.

I used the watercolor pan to add color to my pages that would match the colors in the photos.

I love how the watercolors mix and move across the paper. The interesting thing is, I used linen paper and it did well with the watercolors.  I was surprised. The colors are vibrant and smooth.

Let’s take a look inside:

Technique Tuesday August 2018 Release Countdown Day 1

Hello everyone!!! Today I’m showcasing one stamp set from Technique Tuesday August 2018 Release!! I’m so excited about this release because its all about travel and as you are reading this post, I’m on a nice tropical vacation having a blast!! I will share as soon as I’m back!

Let’s take a look:

Sassy Vacation

I love making list of the items I need to pack because believe it or not, I will forget some of the most important items. That’s because I wait to the day before to pack. LOL, I know, I know. Why would I do that, who knows but I do. So, this list reminds me of everything I need.  My daughter laughs at me all the time.

I used Technique Tuesday Sassy Vacation Memories stamp step to decorate my planning page. The stamps are nice and small and perfect for my planner.

Here’s what I did:

  1. Stamp the two images and sentiment using Altenew Jet Black Ink.
  2. Color the images using Winsor & Newton Watercolors Pan Set.
  3. Add some stickers to the left of the page.
  4. Write down my list using Tombow Mono Drawing Pen.

Super easy and effective!

Hello everyone!!!  It’s CASology Tuesday!!  We are back with another Clean and Simple Cue Card just for you!!

Take a look at my card:

For this week’s cue card I used the new Love You to Pieces Clear stamp set and Pieces of My Heart Crafting Die from Technique Tuesday!!  Yes, they are brand new and will be released on March 1st.

This set is so fitting for our cue card.  When you die cut the heart, it appears to be in pieces but the pieces are attached at the corners.  They just need a small pair of scissors to snap those corners to break the pieces apart.  Which is what I did above.

I love how this card turned out.  I also created another card, similar in style, using this same set, take a look here.

Super simple and easy.

What do you think?

Technique Tuesday March 2018 Release Countdown Day 1

Hello everyone!!  I’m here today for the first time as a Technique Tuesday Design Team Member!! I’m super excited because I’ve loved Technique Tuesday for a long time, so to be apart of the team is amazing.

Today we are showcasing Technique Tuesday March 2018 Release!  You are going melt into pieces when you see what we have in store for you! So lets get right to it!

Let’s take a look:

Pieces of My Heart Crafting Die

Now tell my you heart didn’t just melt. That Pieces of My Heart Crafting Die is just the cutest!! Guess what, you can pair it with the Love You to Pieces Clear Stamp Set.

The puzzle pieces are attached just at the corners but with a pair of snips the can come apart for versatility. The stamp set is amazing because of the different font styles in each sentiment. I love the bold paired with the smaller lettering.

Here’s how this card was created:

I created a watercolor piece using Prima Watercolor Confections Odyssey set and Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper. The colors are delicious!

Once the watercolor piece dries, use a die cutting machine to die cut the Pieces of My Heart Crafting Die.

Position the heart die where you want it on the 4×4 card front, then stamp the sentiment right next to the die cut in the bottom right corner.

Add Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the different pieces and adhere the heart to the card front.

Use We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board to round the top corners of the card.

Super clean and simple!!

Where Creativity Meets C9 Watercolor Challenge

Hello everyone!!  I’m here today with the Where Creativity Meets C9 Blog Challenge Design Team!! Our challenge this month is Watercolor!!

Watercoloring is one of my favorite mediums to use.  It is so forgiving and no matter what happens it is your masterpiece.  There are no mistakes with watercoloring and that is what is so much fun when I work with them.

For my card today, I created my own background using a couple of colors and a paintbrush. Super easy and totally fun.

Take a look at my card:

For this card, I used Prima’s Confection Odyssey Watercolor, a 12 flat brush and Concord and 9th By Your Side stamp set.

Here’s how I created this card:

  1. Select the colors you want to use.
  2. Wet your brush, pick up a color and create squares on your card front.
  3. Once you have as many squares as you want, heat set so that the watercolor square could dry.
  4. Stamp the sentiment using Altenew Permenant Black ink.
  5. Round the corners using We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.

Super quick and simple!
