I can’t believe my Watercolor for Card Makers class is coming to an end. This Friday is the last day to submit all of our homework. I have so much left to do.
It was truly an amazing class! I learned a lot about water-coloring. I was granted the opportunity to try different types of watercolors mediums (watercolor pencils and crayons, transparent water colors, opaque watercolors, kids watercolor, shimmer watercolors).
I’m hoping to make at least one water-coloring card a week. This will allow me to spend more time with my daughter who also loves water-coloring.
Today’s watercolor technique was taught by Tim Holtz himself. Truly fun and amazing. He taught us how to make amazing backgrounds using “watercolor stamping or monoprint” using a stencil.
I had so much fun creating my card, that I made two cards.. I’m also submitting this card into the Papertrey Ink’s Make it Monday #165: Artsy Watercolor Backgrounds Challenge. Betsy showed us how to create watercolor backgrounds using our current stamps. I’m excited!!
So, what do you think of this card? It looks so delicious to me. The colors are so vibrant. My flower was punched from a watercolor background that I created. I thought that bought more balance to the card.
For my second card, I wet the outer edge of the flower to create the watercolor effect surrendering each individual flower. That gives each flower a beautiful soft and subtle effect.
I love how both of my cards turned out. I am going to try to create a couple more cards with this fun effect!!
Please let me know what you think.

Thank you Victoria!
Love the rainbow of color on the first card – terrific background!
Thank you Jacquie!!
Just love the treatment on the 1st card. Can’t stop staring at the beauty of each watercolored diamond! And the 2nd is so soft and subtle. Great job on both!
Thanks Nancy! Your card is amazing also. I love how the smear on the two corners are calling its opposite! You did a great job as well.
Both of your cards are sweet! I too, love the coloring technique on the first card. Great job!!
Thank you Birgit!!
Both cards are fabulous! Love all the colors with this technique in the first one!
Thank you Betty!! I love your card as well! I preorder the Shakers and Sprinkles kit and it hasn’t come yet! It looks so good on your card!
LOVE the background on your first card! Your colors are so pretty and the “pop” of that flower are just pure perfection! Your second card is beautiful as well…so soft and subtle! Watercoloring is such a fun and cool technique, isn’t it?!
Thank you also for your kind words on my blog…my shaker card was simply done by adding thin strips of foam tape to the back border of the text block birthday die. I’m pretty hooked on those right now…fun to make and fun to give! :0)
Thank you Marcia, I’m so glad you liked my cards. I have to try making a shaker card with those dies!! Thanks for the instructions.
Lovely cards! I especially like the first one, with the Tim Holtz stencil idea! It was a great class, wasn’t it?!!
Hey Kathryn, thank you for your kind words. Yes, I’m sad that class ended. I had a lot of fun playing with watercolors. I promised my self that I would make at least one watercolor card a week.
What beautiful cards you made!! I LOVE the fun colors you used on your firs card and the second one is so soft and pretty. You did a great job with both techniques.
Nora thank you so much for your lovely comment!! I hope you win the Gallery Idol call!!!
