{Clean and Simple} CASology 209 – Watercolor

Hello everyone!!  It’s CASology Tuesday!!  We are back with another Clean and Simple Cue Card just for you!!

This week’s cue card:

Week 209 - Watercolor

Take a look at my card:

Smile (CAS)

I love this weeks cue card.  I love watercoloring.  I get to play without worrying about messing up! Watercoloring never looks the same and that amazes me.

For this card, I stamped the feathers from Dark Room Door Feathers stamp set using Versamark ink.

Then I added Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and heat set it.

After that, I used Prima Water Soluble Oil Pastel Crayons to add color to the feathers for a watercolor resist look.

These pastels are amazing.  I love the colors and the smoothness of them.

Once the watercolor dried, I used Papertrey Ink Flower Mini stamp set to stamp the smile sentiment using Clearsnap Archival Wicked Black Ink.

For an added touch, I added Clear Wink of Stella on the sentiment.

So what do you think?  Will you be willing to give this a try?  Let me know below.  I can’t wait to see what you think and create.

Nice, simple and CAS!

What do you think?  I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Crazy Birds…

Hello everyone!!  I’m here today with the Less is More challenge.  Its One Layer Week and the subject should include an Animal.

Less-Is-More-HeaderI’ve been playing along with Kathy’s 30 days of coloring challenge and I finally got my hands on Tim Holtz Crazy Birds stamp set and had to color them in.

Take a look at my card:

Happy Your My Friend

Don’t you just love these birds??  When I first saw these birds, I wasn’t a fan but then I saw all the amazing things everyone was creating with them.  So I decided that I need to get this set and I made the best choice ever.

I used my new Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor set.  Can I just say these are so yummy!!  Totally cream.

The stamped sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Flowers On My Mind stamp set.

All I did was take my time and watercolor each image and letting it dry.

So what do you think?  Let me know. I think they are so cute, LOL!!!

Watercolor Love

Hello everyone!!  I’m here with a2zScrapbooking and our December Challenge!!

I have another card featuring our theme this month, which is Watercoloring.

Take a look at what I created:

Watercolor Love

What do you think? I love these two colors together. They just works so well together.

How my card was created:

1. I used painters tape to cover 1″ of my card panel on all 4 sides.

2. I added water to the center of the card so that my paint could move freely.

3. Then I added my two colors to the watercolor color paper.

4. I used my heat tool to dry my card panel.

5. I used the heart from Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Hearts set to stamp the hearts in the center of the panel.

6. I added a faux stitched line around the watercolor panel and Hero Arts Gems for some interest.

7. I added my card panel to my black card base.

Wow, isn’t this the cutest valentines day card you seen in December, LOL!!

Watercolor Monday!!!

Hello everyone!!  I’m here today with a2z Scrapbooking and our December Challenge!

I’m excited about this challenge because the theme is Watercoloring!!  Yayyy, who doesn’t love watercoloring.  This technique is so much fun.  No two cards look the same.

Take a look at what I created:

All Good Things

Don’t you just love how those colors just mix with one another.  I used 4 different colors to create this background.

I added the ink to the front of my stencil.  I added water to the ink to activate it.

I turned the stencil upside down and placed it on the watercolor paper and used a piece a paper towel to pick up the excess ink and water.

Once I picked up the stencil, I used my heat gun to dry the watercolor panel.

Once dry, I added it to the black cardstock.

I stamp the sentiment with versamark and embossed it with Hero Arts White Embossing powder.

I added foam tape behind the banner and adhered it to the front of the card.

I added some sequin to the front and that’s my card!!

So what do you think?  Let me know.

Watercolor Birthday…

Hello everyone!  I’m here with DoubleClick Skittles Design Team Challenge.  This month the theme is Anything Goes.

I decided to create a card for my Aunt’s birthday.

I use Simon Says Stamp Balloons Die to create a stencil for my balloons.  Then I used my retired Stampin Up! watercolor pencils to fill them in.

Take a look at my card:

Watercolor birthday

1. After I created the stencil, I traced the balloons with a pencil very lightly on to Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock that was die cut using Simon Says Stamp Postage Stamp Edge Frames Die.

2. Then I used my color pencils and traced over the pencil mark.

3. For each balloon, I colored just the base and the side of the balloon.

4. Then I used my paint brush and water to pull the color from the side and base, to the rest of the balloon.

5. I stamp the strings to the balloons.

6. I stamped and embossed the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Birthday Balloons on a strip of Stampin’ Up! Basic Black cardstock.

7. To top of my card I added Pink Sherbert Skittles to my card front for added embellishment.

For those of you who are wondering about my skittles embellishments, the owner Carri, has put together a video to answer any question you might have regarding their size, color, and how to adhere them to your projects. Please click here for that video.

I love the colors of these balloons.  What do you think?  Please let me know.

The Joy is in the Journey

Hello everyone!!  I’m here today with Papertrey Ink’s Make it Monday #171: Pop Up Die Cuts, AAA Cards Game #10 Watercolor techniques and Virginia’s View Challenge #5

I’m so excited about this weeks challenges because they combine my two favorite things.  Water-coloring and my all time favorite die, Life is Beautiful Butterfly die.

AAAcardGame10

Yayyyyy, I get to use Watercolors for this challenge!!

MIM 171 Pop Up Die Cuts

I created a card like this in the past, when I was taking my Online Card Class on Water-coloring.  It was fun so I decided to do it again with different colors, die, and sentiment.  You can see my original card here.

To create the watercolor dots, I used a new pencil eraser to transfer the ink from the pad to the paper.

Then I die cut the butterfly over the dots.  I only placed the cutting plates over the wing section of the butterfly.  That way the body of the butterfly will stay in tack.

I stamped the sentiment and added some heart enamel dots.

Can you say pretty!!!  I can!!!  Creating this card was very easy and everyone should try water-coloring and partial die cutting.

So what do you think?  Please leave a comment letting me know if you like my card creation today.

I’m here today with CASology and their Cue Card is Wood!

Yes, wood.  I was wondering how can I use my favorite technique (WATERCOLOR) and wood.  Then a light bulb when off and I knew what I wanted to do.

Take a look at what I came up with:

Woodgrain hello

Yayyy, I was able to combine my water-coloring with woodgrain!!  I love it.

1. I used Simon Says Stamp woodgrain cardstock.

2. I stamped Papertrey Ink Splat hello stamp with Distress Inks.

3. I used my paint brush to smear the circles, so that they have a spilling look from one side of the circle.

4. I added some sequins and WALA, I was done.

So tell me what you think.  I would love to know.

Can You Have To Much Watercolor?

Hello everyone, I’m here today with a watercolor card {my favorite} for Freshly Made Sketches #139.

FMS Final 139-001Today’s sketch was created by Rita.

When I say this sketch I knew I wanted to create a watercolor background.  I couldn’t help myself.  Watercolor makes everything look pretty. I wanted a pretty card with a pretty tag that you could take off of the card and use on a gift.

Take a look at my take on Rita’s sketch:

Thanks tag card

To create the watercolor background:

For this card I applied 3 different distress ink’s to my craft sheet in a random order very close to one another.

I spritz water on the colors to activate the color to mix them a bit.

I took my watercolor paper and gently placed it on top of the ink to create my watercolor background.

I let the paper dry completely before I added it to my card base.

If you take a closer look at my watercolor paper you will see I scored it for added texture.

Thanks tag texture

For the flagged banners, I used vellum and window sheet to create them.  I didn’t want to complete cover the background because it was so pretty so, I used them to create a see through look.

Thanks flagged banner

For my tag, again I wanted the viewer to  somewhat see through it, as to not take away from the background.

I created an inlay die cut with the word thanks.  Added a few black enamel dots for contrast and the rhinestone for some bling.

I adhere the watercolor piece to black cardstock and then to the white card base.

I had fun creating this card.  I created another card using the same technique.

Hello tag card

Like I said many times over, Water-coloring is my favorite.

Hello World, How are you?

Hello everyone!  I’m in such a great mood today, I can’t stop smiling.  I’ve been working really hard at my craft and slowly by surely its paying off.  So, I’m really proud of myself.

I’m here today with a card for the Muse Challenge #69. This is my first time playing along with them so I hope I don’t disappoint them.

Cornelia was chosen to create the Guest Muse this week and her card is full of bright colors, a cool technique and FUN!

Here is her card:

Cornelia

My job is to use the Muse card as inspiration and create one of my own.

When I looked at Cornelia’s card, it reminded me of my all time favorite technique, WATER-COLORING!!!  I love how she made the colors mix with one another and the splatters across the card.

So I knew right away that I had to pull out my Koi watercolors.  I decided that I wanted to use colors I hardly use that are bright and will stand out on the black cardstock I wanted to use.

Before I painted, I scored the watercolor paper to give it added texture.

I used colors #3, 12, and 16 to create my sentiment and hearts. You can see the colors on my swatch here.

Like Cornelia’s card I wanted to create a one layer card so I decided to create an inlay card with my sentiment and hearts.  So, I die cut my sentiment and hearts from the watercolor piece.

helloswatch

After I cut out all of my pieces that I need to create my card, I realized that I wanted my card to have a stitch edge so to create that I had to use my large journal stitch die, which in turn cut off a portion of my card.  I was ok with that because I love the stitch edge. That idea came from Nichol Magouirk.

After that cut, my card was no longer a one layer card.  I put all of the piece together and here is what I came up with.

Here is my card:

Hello

I added sequin, enamel dots and rhinestones to resemble Cornelia’s paint splatters.  I choose colors that were close to my watercolor sentiment and hearts.

Sooooo, what do you think? No stamping required. I love how it came out.
