Why is this so exciting because I’ve always been a clean and simple artist but since Creativation this year I’ve been so intrigued with mixed media and stencils.  I met Mary Beth Shaw while at the show and was amazed at what she shared with me.

So I bought my first stencil and my life hasn’t been the same since!!

Here’s a sneak peek:

Distress Techniques Day 4

Hello everyone!!  I’m back again with another days work from the Creative Chemistry 103 class.

I skipped Day 2 and 3, but I will come back to it.  Today I will show you what Day 4 is all about.

Day 4 was all about Distress Crayons.

I bought two sets when they came out but I wasn’t a fan of them.  I couldn’t get them to do what I wanted.  Another design team member showed me how I could use them and I was ok with that.  Then this class really set the record straight.

Take a look:

Distress Tags 4

The different techniques are:

  1. Distress Crayon Smudge
  2. Distress Crayon Textured Resist
  3. Distress Crayon Watercolor Resist
  4. Distress Crayon Blended Background

Totally awesome right!!  I love these different techniques!!

Simple Stenciling with So Suzy Stamps

Hello everyone!  I’m here with So Suzy Stamps.  This month the design team is doing a year in review and I was given the month of February to showcase.  Do you remember what stamps were released in February of this year?

No worries, I’m going to refresh your memory.  Starting with this Hello Friend Stamp set!! I’m going to show you how to combine simple stenciling with stamping.

Take a look at my card:

Hello Friend (SSS)

See, simple stenciling with stamping.  I used a retired Stampin’ Up! Stencils and Distress Inks Scattered Straw, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Barn Door.  I took my time and blend the colors together from both directions.

Once the blending was complete, I stamped the sentiment using Versafine Black Ink.

I used the Nuvo Crystal Drops to create the black accented dots the the card front.

How fun was this!!

What do think? Please let me know below.

Now don’t forget to check out So Suzy Shop for all of her new goodies in her store.

Our Next Stamp March 2016 Blog Hop

Mar2016-hopbadge-547x329

Hello everyone!!  Yayyy, I love this blog hop featuring new products from Your Next Stamps makes squeal!! LOL!!

This release is super cute!!  Yesterday’s sneak peek was fun.

If you’ve been hopping along, you would have arrived from Stephanie’s blog and if you’d like to start from the beginning, you can click on over to the linky at the bottom of this post and start at Anita‘s blog.

My favorite set from this release is the Cool Easter Chick stamp set! I showcased that card yesterday during the sneak peek.  If you didn’t see it here it is.

Are you ready for my big reveal?

Take a look at my card:

Happy Birthday to you (YNS)

YNS Supplies: Little Darling Fairy Godmother, Spellbound Gumdrops

Other Supplies: Clarity Stencil Strips, Distress Inks Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, Scattered Straw, Old Paper, and Twisted Citron, Recollection Black Cardstock, Recollection White Cardstock, Tombow Extreme Adhesive

This card was super easy to create!  I blended the colors using the stencil then stamped the sentiment three times.  I added the gumdrops for an added finish.  Sometimes we just need really simple cards.

Happy Easter (YNS)

YNS Supplies: Cool Easter Chick, Black Gumdrops

Other Supplies: Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper, Versafine Onyx Ink, Stampin’ Up! Clear Embossing Powder, Prima Confection Watercolor

Here is another simple card but with a little bit more flare.  I did a little watercoloring and then stamped the sentiment right on top of the dried watercoloring. I added some clear embossing powder on top of the stamped sentiment before it dried to give it an extra pop after it was heated set. I added some gumdrops.

Boom!! Done!!

I have a confession:  This Happy Easter card was suppose to be my sneak peek card but I posted my Spring card by mistake.  That was my favorite card, I guess I was super excited about it.  Sorry for the confusion.

So, what do you think?  I had so much fun creating these cards to inspire all of you and show you the versatility of the stamp sets! Which one of these items are favorite?  I would love to hear from you!

Be sure not to miss any blog along the way, because one lucky commenter will have a chance to win a $25 YNS gift certificate. Winner will be announced on the YNS blog on March 8th.  So don’t forget to leave a comment on each of the blogs participating in the blog hop.

CS Take It Make It: Take a Technique

Hello everyone!! I’m here with CS Take It Make It: Take a Technique Challenge Inspiration for December.

Our theme is Take a Technique: Sharing the Season!!

For this month’s challenge the technique we would like to see Seasonal creations: Winter/icy themed, or even Christmas projects if you’re not bored of these already! For those readers who live in different climates: Why not share your December seasons with us!

This should be super fun to see what the whether looks like in different parts of the world.

Take a look at my card:

Happy Holiday (TIMI)

Here in the USA, we are in the middle of fall and winter.  No, snow in my are yet, but they have some 4 hours away from me.  I hope we don’t get any.  I don’t care for the snow to much.  It makes it hard to drive.  Don’t get me wrong, its pretty but its troublesome.

I created this card using Purple Onion Designs Stacey Yacula Studio – Birch (Winter Bunny)!  Such a cute image and fun to color.  I used my Faber-Castel Polychromos Coloring Pencils.

I inked the background, added some embossing past for snow and a stitched hill.

I love how this card turned out!! Super pretty!

We have two prizes to offer this month, the first is our sponsor prize. This winner will be chosen randomly from all of the entries in the challenge! The sponsor for December: Polkadoodles

pd

The prize is a £25 voucher to spend in the online store.

Our second winner is our Design Winner. This winner is chosen by our DT, who all vote for their favorite design from all of the entries. This winner will have their winning project published in Craft Stamper Magazine, they will have a GDT slot for an upcoming challenge, and will also feature in their very own Winners Profile blog post!

Now if that isn’t a reason to play along I’m not sure what is!!

I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Thanks for stopping by!

Fresh and Fun Stenciling..

Hello everyone! It’s Father’s Day!!  Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there and to the moms who do both job.  I’m one of those moms who play both roles.  So my kids take me out both days to celebrate, I love it!!

In any case , I’m here today playing along with Simon Says Stamp Wednesday’s Challenge. Their theme is Stencil It.

I used a Heidi Swapp stencil and Stampin’ Up!’s new in colors to create my card.

Take a look:

Way To Go

I love how the three colors I used blended together.  I’m really excited about Stampin’ Up!’s new in colors.  They are really great colors to work with.

You will see much more of these colors.

Watercolor Background: How Playful!!

I can’t believe my Watercolor for Card Makers class is coming to an end.  This Friday is the last day to submit all of our homework.  I have so much left to do.

It was truly an amazing class!  I learned a lot about water-coloring.  I was granted the opportunity to try different types of watercolors mediums (watercolor pencils and crayons, transparent water colors, opaque watercolors, kids watercolor, shimmer watercolors).

I’m hoping to make at least one water-coloring card a week.  This will allow me to spend more time with my daughter who also loves water-coloring.

Today’s watercolor technique was taught by Tim Holtz himself.  Truly fun and amazing.  He taught us how to make amazing backgrounds using “watercolor stamping or monoprint” using a stencil.

I had so much fun creating my card, that I made two cards..  I’m also submitting this card into the Papertrey Ink’s Make it Monday #165: Artsy Watercolor Backgrounds Challenge.  Betsy showed us how to create watercolor backgrounds using our current stamps.  I’m excited!!

Happy Watercolor

So, what do you think of this card?  It looks so delicious to me.  The colors are so vibrant.  My flower was punched from a watercolor background that I created.  I thought that bought more balance to the card.

Hello Friend

For my second card, I wet the outer edge of the flower to create the watercolor effect surrendering each individual flower.  That gives each flower a beautiful soft and subtle effect.

I love how both of my cards turned out.  I am going to try to create a couple more cards with this fun effect!!

Please let me know what you think.
