Clean and Simple 3 Card Class – Day 4 Optical Illusion

Did I say how much I’m enjoying this online card class.  Well here it is, I’m having an awesome time in this CAS 3 Card Class.  I’ve learned so much so far and we have weeks to go.  Enough about me, today’s card focused on a different type of optical illusion, Masking!!  Jennifer McGuire taught us how to use our die cuts to mask of areas and apply ink.  I had fun, so much so, that I ink the side of my card stock with the distress ink that I had to ink the sides of the cards too.  I love how it came out, despite my mistake.

Clean & Simple 3 Card Class – Day 3 Optical Illusion

Yesterday we learned a new technique called optical illusion.  Laura Bassen taught us how to do stamp layering which gives off an optical illusion.  We were taught to start with a subtle background stamp, then bold hues and finish the card with a crisp greeting which will make the whole thing pop.

So, I tried to create a card very similar to that taught in class.  I’m not sure if my card gives the same feel.  I would love it to pop a little bit more.  What do you think?

Clean & Simple 3 Card Class – Day 2 Faux Letterpress

I’m so excited about my new card.  I had so much fun creating this card, I can’t stop smiling.

Faux Letterpress is another technique that I learned in my online card class.  Shari Carroll taught us how to create this fabulous look of  letterpress without the texture.  I used nothing but ink and it gave this faux letterpress technique a perfectly smooth one layer card.  I love it!!

Clean & Simple 3 Card Class – Day 1 Faux Effects

My new online card class, Clean & Simple 3 started today.  I’m so excited.  It was packed with different faux effects.  My card today was inspired by Kristina Werner lesson on faux metal elements.  Creating this card took sometime and trial and error.  My metal circles refused to stay circles but it has grown on me.

The faux metal circle was created using silver embossing powder, circle mask and a heart stamp.  Its amazing what you can create when you put your mind to it.

I also used VersaMark to do my embossing.

I had a great time learning this new technique and I really enjoyed trying out this new technique.  I’m going to continue perfecting this technique so that I can use it on other cards as well.

Stencil Class Day 4

Today is the last day to my online stencil card class.  Today’s assignment was to use any of the techniques we learn and create a card.  I choose to use the free stencil that was given to us.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the stencil. Then I use sponge daubers to apply the ink for each of the flowers.  Tell me what you think?

You Make Me Happy

I really had a great time in this class.  I learned a lot about stenciling.  I will continue to use stenciling more on my cards.

Stencil Class Day 3

Today is the third day of my stencil class.  There is only one more day left and I’ve learned a lot in such a short time.  Today’s card, I used the stencil and covered it with paste to create the wavy textured surface.  I added glitter to the wet paste to give the stenciled look a little shimmer.  I also embossed the greeting.  It was fun and really messy!

Stenciled Class Day 2- Stenciled Card

So here is my stenciled card as promised.  I used a heart stencil and colored pencils and colored each heart in with different colors randomly.  I loved how this card came out.  The hearts are much smaller.  I was able to double the amount of hearts on my card.  This was fun to make because I went back to the basics, Coloring.

All of the supplies are the same except the heart stencil and the color pencils.

Stencil Class Day 2

So today is day 2 of my 4 day stencil class.  I’m learning a lot.  Today’s class we learned different techniques on how to use stencils.  I tried a couple of them and didn’t like the results so I’m going to keep trying until I get it right.  There was one technique that was easy enough not to mess up.  Guess what that technique is?  It’s so simple, you will laugh.  Have you guessed it yet?  Well here is the answer, its COLORING.  Yes, simple children’s play, Coloring with colored pencils!!  How could I mess that up?

The stencil used to make that card, I didn’t have.  I’m going to get that stencil today, but in the meantime, I had a heart stamp that would do just fine.  So, I made a card with the heart stamp from the ” Perfect Pennants” stamp set.  I love how the card came out.  The heart stamp is so full and small to me.  I want to stamp it everywhere!  I cant wait to see how it will look once I stencil the hearts.  Take a look at the stamped card.

Hearts Enjoy

How precious!! I used the new in-colors ink pads to create the color hearts.  Aren’t those colors yummy!  Tell me what you think of my stamped image.

Stencil Class Day 1

I’m so excited about starting my new Stencil Class.  I’ve never stenciled before and wanted to try it on some of my cards.  Take a look at my first card.  Don’t laugh, its a start.  No matter how much tape I used to keep the stencil in place it just wouldn’t cooperate with me.  Tomorrow’s card should be better then today’s.

Holiday Card Workshop Day 2 – Die Cutting for Holiday Cards

Hello everyone,

I know I’m out of order with my cards but it is okay with me. Today’s card we had to use our die cutting machines to create our holiday cards.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, then I remembered seeing a card using our new festive flurry dies and I wanted to try it.  The card I saw was made by Erica Cerwin, a fellow demonstrator.  I recreated her card with my own spin on it.  It came out really nice.  Here it is:
