Life can be tough

I totally love how this card turned out.  The flower was a piece I created for Kathy’s Day One 30 day coloring challenge.  I’m super glad I was able to use this flower on this card.  It just fits!

My flower is from Create a Smile Botanical Love stamp set.

The pattern paper is from Create a Smile Feel Good Paper Pack.

My sentiment stamp is from Simon Says Stamp Hand Lettered Encouragement stamp set.

My ribbon is from V’s Sweet Ideas: May Arts 1/8inch Velvet Ribbon Purple.

My gumdrops are from Your Next Stamp Black Gumdrops and Doodlebug Design Inc Sprinkles Birthday Boy enamel dots.

To create the border edge, I used Mama Elephant Heart Border die.

So what do you think? Please let me know.

Papertrey Ink 8th Year Celebration: Blue Skies

Second Post for the day

Looking for CS Take It Make It Post, click here

Hello everyone!  I’m here again today with Papertrey Ink’s 8th Year Celebration!  They introduced their new Blue Skies line.

For this challenge they wanted us to create a blue ombre card using all of our favorite shades of blue.  It could be an ombre background, several of the same image stamped in shades of blue, ombre inking of a bold stamp or whatever else we could dream up!

For my one layer card I decided to go with an ombre background, take a look:

Thanks for everything

I love how this card turned out.  So what do you think? Let me know.

CASology 129 – NBUS

Hello everyone!!  I’m here today with the CASology Design Team this weeks Challenge.

We are combining challenges with Darnell Knauss NBUS (Never Been Used Schtuff)!

Week 129 - NBUS          NBUS

Yayyyyy, how much fun is that!! I have sooooo much schtuff that I’ve never used before, choosing what to use was not hard at all.

Take a look at my card:

AwesomeThe die cut and stamp set from Lil’ inkers designs are new!!

Here is how I created this card:

1. I cut my Neenah Solar card stock to an A2 size card (4.25 x 5.50) scored at 5.50.

2. I used painters tape to score off the bottom have of my card so that I could do some ink blending.

3. I used Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed to create the color at the bottom of my card.

4.  I die cut Lil’ inker designs Awesome Word Die out to the card base between the white and the color blend.

5. I cut a piece of lightweight cardstock, added adhesive and attached it to the inside of my card front.

6. Then I die cut the word Awesome 3 more times so that the word will pop up off of the card. I stacked the word on top of each other with Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive.

7. I inlaid the word back in the card. The adhesive was already on the the card panel that I added in step 5.

8. I stamped my sentiment underneath the die cut word using Lil’ inker designs Hello, Awesome.

9.  I added some My Mind’s Eye Charmed Black Enamel Dots to the front of the card.

Easy peasy!!

What do you think?  I would love to hear from you.

Are You Enjoying Your Journey?

Hello everyone!  I’m here today with CAS(E) this sketch #85.  This week’s sketch is from N@Ali.  I love this sketch, its clean and simple.

Take a look at my card:

Enjoy the Journey 2

I love how this card turned out.  It has the CAS factors.  One focal point, one sentiment, little embellishments and a lot of white space!

I used my brand new Life’s Journey stamp set and Super Geotag die from Simon Says Stamp’s new release called This Is The Life.

I love this new set.  Life really is journey that we are on and we have no clue were we will end up.  There are times when we set our path and something happens that take of off that path.  Its up to you to get back on path no matter how hard it might, but we MUST enjoy the journey or it will not be worth it.

So what do you think?  Please let me know by leaving a comment below.

The Art of Window Dressing

When was the last time you window shopped?  Isn’t it amazing how the items in the window really stand out!  You can’t help but to steer that much longer.  The outfit or the furniture that you see, draws you in for the buy!

Macy's Windowphoto credit

This display at Macy’s Broadway Store in NYC gives the feeling of power.  The women stand out from their background which screams, “You will see me amongst the cluster background.

Well today’s card should give you the same feeling!!  I’m participating in Papertrey Ink’s Make It Monday#164: Cluster Stamped Sentiment challenge.

Watercolor thanks

I used the “thanks” from Papertrey Ink’s Wet Paint stamp set.  I stamped it with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

Watercolor is my new favorite medium so I created my clusters using distress inks, water and a sponge dauber.  It was cool.  This technique is called stamp emboss resist.  The ink will not attach itself to the embossed area.  I learned that in my Watercolor Card Makers online class that’s still going strong.

The more ink spots I added to the thank you area, the easier it was for the thank you to stand out from its background.  It reminds me of window dressing!  You will see me amongst the clustered background!!!

I am pleased with how my card came out.  I hope you like it too.
