Scrapbooking Again

Hello everyone!!  I’m here today to share a scrapbook page I created using Altenew’s Reflection Scrapbook Collection.

Would you believe me if I told you I started crafting by creating scrapbook pages for my son.  I stopped a long time ago. I was introduced to some may different types of crafts that I slowly walked away from scrapbooking.

Last year, I started scrapbooking again by doing pocket pages.  Those are easy and fun but I missed the actually scrapbook page that I use to create.  So I decided to try my hand at it again.

Lets take a look:

I recently visited my nephew’s and had a blast with them.  My youngest nephew is 5 years old and he is quite the explorer.  He loves nature and everything it has to offer.  We went out to eat and while waiting to be seated he spotted a tree outside and he had to climb it.

I was so happy that my camera was ready.  I captured him looking out beyond the leaves and knew this would be a perfect shot.

Altenew is running their second sketch challenge and I figured I could join in on the fun.

Take a look at the sketch:

To create my page, I used my Brother ScanNCut Canvas online to create a heart.  I downloaded it to the ScanNCut and used it to cut out the heart from one of Altenew Scrapbook pages.

Then I adhered the heart to the white background using Tombow Permanent Mono adhesive.  I added dash lines around the heart to add dimension.

After that I picked out different embellishments to go with the theme of my page.  I placed them according to the sketch.

Let take a closer look:

I love how the embellishments are all color coordinated.

Adding thread, adds an extra layer of texture to this layout.  Super simple but effective.

So what do you think?  Did I follow the sketch? I would love to hear from you.

For this challenge, shape cards were in order.  I love making cards that are odd shaped from time to time. For the sparkle and shine I foiled the sentiment and adhered it to the card front.  Super doper easy!!

These cards could be turned into tags as well.  Just punch a hole and write on the inside of the tag.

What do you think?  Please let know below.

I can’t wait to see how you interpret our challenge theme this month.

{Clean and Simple} CASology 214 – Beach

Hello everyone!!  It’s CASology Tuesday!!  We are back with another Clean and Simple Cue Card just for you!!

This week’s cue card:

Week 214 - Beach

Take a look at my card:

Hello Friend (CAS)

I have I told you how much I do not like the fall or winter!  I hate being cold and to see the summer end is killing me.  I love how we are using this cue card now!  The weather is changing and its no longer 90 degrees outside.  So going to the beach is about to be in our distant memory.

When I sat down to create my card, I immediately thought of So Suzy Stamps new release. The Beach Grass stamp to be exact!! This stamp set is just perfect for this week’s challenge.

I love how the grass gives the feeling of motion, the nice ocean breeze.  Oh when I close my eyes, I can feel it!  Can you?

Creating this card was easy as 1-2-3!

  • I used a A2 (4.25×5.50) size card base to start with.
  • Then I used the Mini Misti to stamp the Beach Grass stamp set across the front of the card in black.
  • After that I used Concord & 9th Flourish stamp set to stamp the sentiment.
  • Last but not least, I rounded the top right corner for added interest.

Nice and easy, I must say.  I love how the black and white keeps the card elegant.  Concord & 9th sentiment font is so fitting for this card as well.

Are you inspired to play along?  Please let me know below!

Guest Designer: Sparkle and Shine Challenge Part 2

Hello everyone!! I’m back again today with the Sparkle and Shine Challenge as the Guest Designer for the month.

Here is the photo inspiration that I used to create my card:

Sparkle and Shine

Take a look at my card:

Happiest of Holiday (S&S)

I have to say I struggle with this photo inspiration this time around.  At first I played with all of the colors in the photo and my daughter said no.  The colors were to dull.  So I decided to go with just two of the colors.

I stamped My Favorite Things Santa’s Elves tree and fussy cut them out.  Then I adhered them to my card front.  After that I added some sequin as ornaments on the tree.  Then I stamped the sentiment and I was done!!

Super easy!

So what do you think?  Please let me know.

This challenge runs for two weeks. You have until December 28, 2015 at 11:55pm to enter for a chance to win a super awesome prize!!

Tag You’re It Challenge

Hell everyone!!  I popping in really quickly to play along with Tag You’re It Challenge this week.

Marybeth is the Designer this week and this is what she came up with:

TYIC+%2326

I love the butterfly on her tag so I wanted to give it a try!

I created these watercolor background pieces the other day and want to use one of them to create my tag.

Watercolor pieces

Take a look at my tag:

You make me smile upright

I love that watercolor piece and didn’t want to hide it so I decided to create my second tag using acetate to create my second tag.

You might be able to see it better here:

You make me smile tag flat

My sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Lunchbox Love Stamp Set and I stamped it in Versamark Ink and embossed it with Stampin’ Up! Gold embossing powder.

I punched out two butterflies using Stampin’ Up! Elegant Butterfly Punch and their Bitty Butterfly Punch out of the same watercolor piece.

I adhered everything with glue dots and added the Papertrey Ink Baker’s Twine Cream Cotton to finish off my tag.

Easy Peasy!! What do you think?  Let me know below in the comment section.

a2z Scrapbooking June 2015 Challenge

Second post for the day

If your looking for So Suzy Stamps New Release, click here

Hello everyone!!  I’m here with a2z Scrapbooking today with our June Challenge!!!

Our new challenge is sure to please you this month!!  Our challenge this month is New Beginning!!  Use any Hero Arts product to create anything that fits your fancy.  This will be fun and interesting.  The possibilities are endless.

Check out the card I created for this challenge:

So, I’m taking the new Online Card Class Mask-erade and Shari Carroll taught us how to create a background using liquid masking.  I thought it was such a cute idea that I wanted to try it myself.

Here is how I created this card:

1. I cut my watercolor paper panel down to 3-3/4 x 5-1/2.

2. I stamped the Hero Arts Three Artistic Butterflies with Ranger Archival Jet Black Ink.

3. I covered each butterfly with Incredible White Mask and let it dry.

4. Then I stamped Tim Holtz Mesh & Linen with Hero Arts Soft Granite Ink right on top of the butterflies.

5. Then I used Hero Arts Bubble Confetti Stencil and Distress Inks Spiced Marmalade, Peacock Feathers and Mustard Seed and added different ink spots to my card panel.

6. I let my card panel dry and then I used my fingers to remove the dried liquid mask.  In the process of removing the mask, my paper tore.

image1(4)

7. To fix that, I used a little bit of glue to attach the ripped piece back.

8. I attached my card panel to the front of Simon Says Stamp Audrey Blue cardstock.

9.  I attached the card panel to the card base with tape.

10. I die cut Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Congrats out of black cardstock 3 times.

11. I stacked the die cuts on top of each other and adhered it to the card front.

12. I stamped another sentiment from that same stamp set underneath the die cut.

13. I added Clear Wink of Stella to the die cut for added interest.

I had a lot fun creating this card.  So what do you think?  Let me know below.

Amazing isn’t it!! I hope you love what you see and that it inspires you to join us this month. You have the entire month to create a new project and enter it into our challenge. Same but Different Challenge #6

Second Post

If your looking for the Top Dog Dies Baby Shower Invite post, click here

Hello everyone!  I’m here today with a new challenge that I’m participating in and its called the Same but Different Challenge #6!!

logo_same+but+differentFrancine from 1001 CARTES and Anja from Little Butterfly Creations are the co-owners of this challenge and I have to tell you they are super fabulous at card making.  Their use of color is totally amazing.  I love seeing their cards.  Such inspiration!!

I first discovered this challenge a couple of months back when they first started, but I couldn’t participate, because I didn’t have the stamp set that Francine and Anja used.  I have it now, LOL!!

So, I’ve been dying to give this challenge a try so I put forth the effort to get the butterfly die that they used.

Lets take a look at the die we are using for this challenge.  They are using the “Chrissy Butterfly” from Simon Says Stamp:

Photo_Blog_448b

When I looked on Simon Says Stamp website, I couldn’t find that die.  I reached out to Francine to let her know that I can’t find that die but that I did find a die that was very similar but it had a different name. I found the Paulina Butterfly Die.  Francine said that was fine, its the same die just a bit bigger.  Yayyy!!

Paulina butterly

Now take a look at my card:

Take your time to be happy

I love how my butterfly turned out.  I had a couple of watercolor pieces that I wasn’t sure what to do with and now look.  I found a use for it!!

So, let me make you laugh.  I thought this die partial die cut but it cut straight through.  So I had to improvise.  I just glued the center of the butterfly back in place so that it could appear as if it was partial die cut.  Nice right!!

My sentiment is from Create a Smile Botanical Love stamp set.

Lets take a closer look at my card:

Take your time to be happy 2

I love how clean cut the butterfly looks.

Take your time to be happy 3

This sentiment is so fitting for this card.  It matches the butterfly and the watercolor colors!

Take your time to be happy 4I love how this turned out!  What do you think? Let me know below. I would love to hear from you.

I’m also entering this card into the Less is More Challenge: Week 213 – This makes me happy!
